Muharram, the first month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is one of the four sacred months of the Islamic year. Meaning of the name Muharram According to Islamic tradition, the word Muharram has intent-based meanings: it is, first of all, forbidden to fight, so called because it was unlawful to fight during this month; the pre-Islamic Quraish, as well as other Arabs, used to respect the fighting in this month more than fighting in other months.
